How to Start an Automated Spa

This webpage will help you start an Automated Spa or convert an old tanning salon to an automated spa.  The latest social media and government pressure against indoor tanning beds has caused many tanning salons to fail and a consolidation period is ongoing.  This poor economic environment for UV tanning has created a "buy low" opportunity for business owners looking to open a new salo, or reopen a recently closed tanning salon.  We are now recommending to our clients who own tanning salons to convert, transition, and reinvent themselves as "automated spas".automated spa equipment

Why Automated Spa?  Because the closing of tanning salons filled warehouses with barely used salon equipment and created empty rooms the perfect size for "automated spa equipment", like those pictured here.  Prospective new business ownersw can buy refurbished spa equipment for pennies on the dollar and find a space which already has $20k worth of build-out expenses invested: old tanning salons.

We are American Quality MFG, and we will assist you with opening a new automated spa (please do not call it a tanning salon) in the most cost effective way possible.  How do we accomplish this?

Call 800-667-9189 today for a free consultation or click on any photo or active link on this page to learn more about our services.  We once were a tanning bed manufacturer who now brings in used spa equipment and refurbishes them completely for resale to salons or home users.  We offer a 30 day warranty on all of our equipment and a life-time of smartphone support.

We recommend a pricing model which charges $50 to $75 per month for "anything" in the spa on any given day.  This could be unlimited water massages, spray tans (1-2 per week), or sessions in the Hydration Stations.  Massage Envy has a similar pricing concept.  Click on this graphic to the right to view a recommended automated spa layout >>>

We believe NOW is the best time to convert a tanning salon to an automated spa and here are a few of the reasons WHY:

Reason #1:  We just experienced the toughest economic period since the great depression and along with government pressure, created a "consolidation" of indoor tanning facilities and equipment.

In the summer of 2010 the USA Today reported the top 5 cities in the US for number of tanning salons were Pittsburgh, Charleston, WV, Akron, Fargo, & Scottsdale, AZ.  In Charleston, West Virginia, a city with 52,000 people, there were
52 tanning salons, or one for every 1,000 residents.  By contrast, there were only 2 McDonalds and 1 Starbucks.  Consolidation in this industry was inevitable.

The lesson learned about tanning salon growth and implosive is that a consolidation period after an amazing growth period is only natural and this action has created great opportunities in both location selection, build-out costs, and equipment costs.

These web pages will explain exactly how you can take advantage of these tough economic times and save thousands on monthly lease amounts, find free build-out money, and learn where to buy used salon equipment at .30 to .50 cents on the dollar!

Reason #2: The new Health Bill included a 10% tanning tax which went into effect on July 1, 2010 and this event, coupled with poor economic conditions, caused many salons "on the fence", to fail.  This is a created a fantastic "buy low, sell high" opportunity for the open minded business opportunist.  Do not open a tanning salon...but do have a couple of tanning beds available for the small demographic of people who will still UV tan in the future.

Reason #3: The World Health Organization (WHO) in April 2010 placed ultra-violet devices, along with the sun, on the known carcinogen list.  This was not a surprise and this action was part of the continued awareness program the WHO offers to make everyone aware of the damage the Sun, and sunbeds or tanning beds, can cause to your skin if you ABUSE them or do not take necessary precautions.

There will always be a need for tanning beds, but not tanning salons.  There will be a small demographic of hard-core users of indoor tanning devices so we recommend you have a few in the back.  Now consider automated spa type services to attract 100% of your potential client base.  Click on links below to read more or call us today at 321-432-3000 to get started.  We help from start to finish.
